Las residencias de ancianos están en el punto de mira: se acumulan las denuncias, faltan plazas y los profesionales del sector sufren una gran precariedad laboral. Gonzo ha entrevistado a Gustavo García, coordinador de la Asociación de Directoras y Gerentes de Servicios Sociales y un hombre que estuvo al cargo de una residencia pública durante casi una década.
España es un país en el que tradicionalmente a nuestros mayores les hemos cuidado en casa y a día de hoy todavía existen muchas reticencias para dejar a nuestros familiares en las residencias: «El sentimiento de culpabilidad siempre está ahí y condiciona muchas de las cosas», explica García.
Las plazas públicas o concertadas en las residencias alcanza el 60% del total y el 40% son de residencias privadas. ¿Qué hay que tener en cuenta a la hora de elegir una u otra? El entrevistado explica que la clave está en si te dejan ver y conocer las instalaciones: «Si te ponen dificultades, mal».
